VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
Adult Volunteers & Volunteens
-
Adult Volunteers (18+ yrs.) and Volunteens (13-17 yrs.) perform a variety of tasks at the Library. Below are a few of those tasks. All volunteers must apply and consent to a background check. Volunteens (13-17 yrs.) perform a variety of tasks (except as an Outreach Assistant) at the Library, which are described below with. Below are a few of those tasks. Hours committed to the library count toward the Silver Cord with the Union Community School District.

Activity Preparation Assistant

Help assemble materials for Library programs and outreach visits

Primary duties include attention to detail, ability to work independently, and manual dexterity

Ability to work a minimum of a one-hour shift is required, and working a two-hour shift his highly desirable
Collection Maintenance Assistant
-
Perform cleaning and organization of materials on shelves
-
Assist with filing
-
Clean other collections and office material
-
Primary duties include an ability to read small print, attention to detail, ability to work independently, ability to bend, ability to push a full cart of books, and knowledge of library systems

Ability to work a minimum of a one-hour shift is required, and working a two-hour shift his highly desirable
Outreach Assistant

Assemble and bundle Library material bing prepared for transportation

Primary duties include attention to detail, ability to work independently, and ability to carry bags/boxes of books weighing up to 25 pounds

Ability to work a minimum of a one-hour shift is required, and working a two-hour shift his highly desirable

Volunteers performing this task must be at least 18 years old and are expected to respect patron privacy, confidentiality, and wellbeing
Program and Events Assistant

Greet program attendees by asking as a representative of the Library
-
Collect attendance statistics

Assist with last-minute preparations
-
Primary duties include attention to detail, dependability, congenial and cheerful attitude, ability to stand for long-periods of time, and manual dexterity

Ability to work a minimum of a one-hour shift is required, and working a two-hour shift his highly desirable

Any volunteer must submit an application (see below) and either return it to the circulation desk or email it to info@lpcpubliclibrary.org. As tasks are prepared, registered volunteers will be contacted via email or phone.
