Dotted around La Porte City are seven Little Free Libraries. A Little Free Library is a "take a book, share a book" free book exchange. They come in many shapes and sizes, but the most common version is a small wooden box of books. Anyone may take a book or bring a book to share. Little Free Library book exchanges have a unique, personal touch. There is an understanding that real people are sharing their favorite books with their community; little libraries have been called "mini-town squares."
Our Little Free Libraries are stationed around town at these locations:
City Park
Family Aquatic Center
Lion's Park Gazebo
Sacred Hearth Catholic Church
St. Paul United Methodist Church
Corner of Hwy 218 and Anton Dr.
Corner of Pleasant Dr. and Case Rd.
Our Little Free Libraries are filled with weeded and donated books. We invite you to borrow books and leave books. We rotate the items once a month, so come back to see what's new!
