Your Library card connects you to other libraries through the state and throughout the nation. If you are looking for a book that we do not have, please ask a Library Assistant to determine if we can borrow the item from another library. Generally, what we do not have on our shelf is available from another library.
Through MOBIUS (our courier) and SILO (the State of Iowa Libraries Online database), we acquire and participate in loan transactions (often called Interlibrary Loans or ILLs), which allows you greater access to materials. However, this service is limited to resident and nonresident cardholders only.
Per policy, patrons are limited to five synonymous item requests
Items requested can take up to two weeks to be delivered, but most items coming from a state library take less time
The circulation period for these items is set by the lending library
Renewals are at the discretion of the lending library
To see a renewal, call or email the library
If an item is presently overdue, no renewals are allowed
Patrons will be notified two times when items are received
If items are not collected by the due date, the items will be returned to the lending library
Patrons may be charged the full cost of the return postage
To order an item via ILL, please contact the library, visit the circulation desk on your next visit, or "Request an Item" in your account, which can be accessed through the Catalog. Once in the Catalog, log into your account in the top right corner. Then, click "My Account," "Reserves," and "Request an Item." Enter the required information.
